The AIDS Council of SA (ACSA) was formed in the mid 1980’s as part of Australia’s exceptional community response to the HIV/AIDS crisis. Today, we are a health promotion agency active in developing and supporting affected and at-risk communities and promoting the prevention of HIV/AIDS.

Our vision is “a future free of HIV” and we involve key client groups including gay men, people who inject drugs and sex workers in our prevention and education programs that aim to improve the health and well-being of these communities.

People sometimes think that our services are simply about safe sex campaigns but effective health promotion for the community involves far more. Advocacy, education programs, personal development and skills building, information and referrals are all part of the range of programs and services provided by the Council.

We also invite and encourage interest and enquiry from the general public and have a significant community awareness program that ranges from access to our Darling House Community Library to information talks to community groups and health professionals.
