Strategic Positioning

When fucking, guys typically perform one of two roles, the insertive partner, or Top, and the receptive partner, or Bottom. Strategic positioning is when men tactically choose between these positions during sex as a means of minimising their risk of contracting HIV. Whilst HIV is passed on more easily from a Top to a Bottom, neither position is guaranteed to prevent transmission of HIV if condoms and lube are not used.
Why? If you are Bottoming, you are at higer risk because damage to your arse or existing sores may come into contact with the Top’s pre-cum, cum and blood, which may be carrying HIV.
- If you are Topping, you may be at risk if the Bottom’s blood and anal mucus enters your blood stream through the eye of your cock or through tiny cuts or sores.
- Many STI symptoms can manifest as sores, such as syphillis or genital herpes, which is why pre-existing sexually transmitted infections can increase HIV risk.
